Regroup. Restart. You can do this!

This blog is off to a rough start. Since starting this blog, Ashley and I have made ZERO posts. Want to know why? Well, I'd like to blame my friend, who I am confident jinked us, but the reality is this: both of us got Bronchitis. Seriously, I've never been so sick. It took me three weeks to recover...and Ashley missed an entire week of school. Then there was snow, more snow, and EVEN MORE SNOW! (I've attached a picture of me and my girls. Ashley's on the left and Lizzie is on the right.)

So, this week and last week, we struggled with some serious motivation....but we still made it to the gym. Under the direction of our doctor, we will start swimming March 1, 2010. But our workouts start with a stretch, 3o minute cardio (run/walk/cycle), and then alternate upper/lower body strength training. It's a family event...so its fun.

Last night was interesting. Ash just seemed to be struggling with putting forth the effort. I kept pushing...but finally realized that Ash needed to do this for herself and no one else. Regardless of how true this statement was, it was unnecessary. Why? Ashley eventually let me know that she didn't sleep well last night and was very tired. I wish I had known this prior to starting, as I wouldn't have pushed her so hard. But more importantly, I began to doubt her desire to stick with this. I was out of line. Ashley wants to succeed. She's one of the strongest people I know. Had I taken the time to listen to her needs, I would have adjusted the workout as needed. Seriously, a lighter workout would have been better than nothing at all. Lesson leaned: I encouraged her to inform me of when she is tired or lacking motivation. We all have days like this.

So What's the Point?

We are blogging about becoming Iron Girl Triatheletes and what its going to take to get us there. We are two friends....on a mission. Not only do we want to compete one day, we want to share our blog with others so we can encourage others on their own fitness journeys. There will be good days, bad days, and so much more. We hope you will swim, cycle, and run to the finish line with us!

WHO WE ARE.
Ashley: Let's see....I have a great family...I'm the baby of the family. I love sports, playing games, and hanging with friends. I enjoy making music video's and cooking.

Hayley: Let me tell you about myself. I am twelve year old from Kansas and have a wonderful family. In my free time, I like to draw characters, act out the parts on my favorite TV shows, and hang out with friends.
